Before applying, we encourage artists to explore past installations and festival highlights at @nightlight_vicpark and #nightlightvicpark, and to familiarize themselves with the scale and spirit of the festival.
This year we are looking for projects that demonstrate:
1. Strong artistic vision
2. Realistic and achievable concepts
3. Clear and thoughtful budgets
4. Innovative and unique ideas
5. Alignment with Night Light’s values: Community, Playfulness, and Collaboration

1. Clear Project Description.
A concise description of your concept and creative vision, including how audiences will experience or interact with the work and how it aligns with Night Light’s values of creativity, community connection, playfulness, and accessibility.
2. Visual Materials.
Sketches, renderings, photos, diagrams, mock-ups, or any visuals that help us clearly understand and envision the final outcome.
3. Technical and Logistical Plan.
Consider materials and equipment required, including what you already have and what must be rented or purchased, power, space, and installation requirements. Consider a build timeline and installation process. Dont forget safety considerations and durability for outdoor displayAny special permissions, rigging, or structural needs.
4. Feasibility.
Confirmation that the project can be completed within the timeline, consideration of Calgary weather and outdoor conditions, and a realistic plan for transport, setup, and takedown.
5. Budget and Value for Money.
We do not expect a line-by-line breakdown of every penny, but your budget should be clear, realistic, and well thought out, with enough detail for us to understand:
- Major expense categories such as materials, labour, equipment, and transport.
- Whether your request is reasonable for the scale and impact of the project.
- How the funds will directly support delivering the artwork.
Open to local, national, and international artists, focusing on local and emerging talent.
No experience is required — just creativity and independence.
